Participatory Local Democracy

Abstract: It is argued that under appropriate conditions, communities can devise appropriate collective-choice arrangements that enable sustainable resources management. This can avoid the so-called “Tragedy of the Commons” and the need to create alternative, but ineffectual governance arrangements.
