The impact of good governance on development and poverty in Africa : Botswana – a relatively successful African initiative

Abstract: At independence, Botswana was considered a hopeless case. Statistical evidence suggests that democratic governance with transparency, accountability, little corruption, and effective decentralization has been a critical contributor to its development success.
