Who owns the land? : perspectives from rural Ugandans and implications for land acquisitions

Abstract: The effect of different definitions of land ownership, gender relations and ownership documents on women’s land rights in Uganda is examined. Many households report husbands and wives jointly own the land, but women are less likely to be listed on ownership documents and have fewer rights.
